This is a simple day care surgery where cheek buccal fat pads are surgically removed. An example of cosmetic plastic surgery is the removal of buccal fat. It is often referred to as a cheek reduction procedure or buccal lipectomy. Cheeks are made thinner, and face angles are defined. This procedure barely takes 30 minutes to perform.

A circular mass of fat in the centre of your cheek is called the buccal fat pad. It is situated between the muscles of the face, in the hollow just below the cheekbone. Your face shape is influenced by the size of your buccal fat pads. Everybody has buccal fat pads. However, there is a wide range in the size of buccal fat pads. You might think your face is excessively full or round if you have enlarged buccal fat pads. You might also think of yourself as having a "baby face." Having larger cheeks is not a problem. However, if you want to reduce their size, Dr. Viral Desai, one of the best cosmetic plastic surgeons in Mumbai advise buccal fat reduction. This procedure is used to narrow circular faces.

Who’s a good candidate for buccal fat removal?

You might be a good candidate for buccal fat removal if any of the following applies to you:

  • You’re in good physical health.

  • You’re at a healthy weight.

  • You have a round, fuller face.

  • You dislike the fullness of your cheeks.

  • You have pseudogenization (small rounded fat mass in the cheek due to a weak buccal fat pad).

  • You desire a more defined chiselled face

Buccal fat removal isn’t for everyone. It may not be recommended in the following scenarios:

  • Your face is narrow.

  • You have progressive hemifacial atrophy (Parry-Romberg syndrome).

  • You’re older

  • How much does it cost?

The price of removing buccal fat varies depending on the number of treatments you’re experiencing. The expense of combining cheek reduction surgery with additional operations will go up, especially if you're also having facial plastic surgery that calls for general anaesthesia.

What are the risks associated with buccal fat removal surgery?

They are very rare with this surgery (less than 0.5 percent). Possible risks are-

  • Infection at the incision site.

  • Injury to facial nerves and/or salivary duct injury.

  • Numbness or sensation changes.

  • Asymmetry

  • What is the recovery time for buccal fat removal surgery?

Dr Viral will provide you with recommendations on how to speed up healing after your treatment. It's crucial to adhere to his after-care recommendations, which may include scheduling any follow-up consultations. Although the recovery period following this treatment is typically 3-7 days, the final result is seen after few weeks.

When do you see results after buccal fat removal?

Once the majority of the swelling has subsided, you'll start to see majority benefits in approximately three weeks. As your skin settles into your cheek hollows, it may take three or even six weeks before you notice your complete effects.

For best results, schedule an appointment at CPLSS one of the best cosmetic surgery and hair transplant clinics in Mumbai with our expert surgeon Dr Viral Desai.

Skin brightening is the practice of using substances, mixtures, or physical treatments to brighten skin color. Skin brightening treatments work by reducing the content of melanin of the skin. Most skin-brightening treatments, which can reduce or block some amount of melanin production, are aimed at inhibiting tyrosinase enzyme.

Autologous Fat

It involves extracting fat cells from the patient’s abdomen, thighs, buttocks or elsewhere and re-injecting them beneath the facial skin, lips, breast, buttock or anywhere else as require

The duration of the fat injections varies significantly from patient to patient. Normally 50-60 % of the fat survives for 5-6 years.

Fat is most often used to fill in “sunken” cheeks or laugh lines between the nose and mouth, to correct skin depressions or indentations, to minimize forehead wrinkles and to enhance the lips, for peri-orbital rejuvenation, and treat depressed scars, acne scars, etc.

MesoFace & MesoGlow

Cosmetic Mesotherapy skin rejuvenation or “Mesoface” infuses the skin with potent vitamins and antioxidants to rejuvenate and revitalize it. People who have had a Mesoface describe their skin as firm, radiant, youthful and glowing.

These injections have glutathione as an active ingredient. Glutathione is a known anti-oxidant. Vitamin C and glutathione are combined to give an overall lighter skin tone. The injection should be given every 1 week for 2-4 weeks. After the first set has been buy valium pills completed maintenance dose of one or two injections per month may be continued. There are no side effects if dosages are low and regularly monitored with blood testing. This gives a glow to the face and effect remains for 3-4 months. This procedure is carried out with very fine needles, making it practically painless.

Mesotherapy involves multiple injections with a very fine needle by a doctor. A very small amount of a blend of vitamins, amino acids and other medications is injected into each site. The actual mixture depends upon the problem being treated. The needle only enters the mesoderm or surface layer of the skin. There should be no pain but, if you wish, a local anaesthetic cream can be applied before the injections to prevent any discomfort. In total, the treatment takes no longer than 10-20 minutes. Post treatment the skin becomes soft like baby’s skin and the effect remains for 3-4 months.

Collagen injections and fillers are used to tighten the skin in a small area, mostly on face. Collagen is directly injected in the loose sagging skin or the crevices of the skin. It forms new collagen in the face so it gives a younger look. As we age collagen is depleted, hyaluronic acid gets depleted also we lose elastin which helps maintain skin elasticity. With Meso tightening, we are able to replenish the collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, so there is skin tightening. The injected collagen and elastin instantly fills the crevices and smoothen them. The end result is such that the skin appears taut, fresh and youthful. The effect remains for 3-4 months. This procedure is done with very fine needles, so its practically painless.

A chemical peel is a treatment for skin, particularly facial skin, which helps improve and smoothen the texture of the skin.

The operative principal is the use of a chemical solution that causes the dead skin to peel away, causing regeneration of skin which is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.

Based on your skin type, your doctor will advise you on the type, strength and combination of peels suitable for your skin.

CPLSS offers the following type of peels:
Salicylic Peel | Glycolic Peel | TCA Peel | Green and Yellow Peels

Skin blotches can create a dull complexion, and typically do not clear up on their own. A chemical peel can penetrate deep enough to remove the layer of darker skin to even out your skin tone

The sun is the leading cause of fine lines and wrinkles, and these can be prevented with a healthy skincare regiment. Chemical peels remove the layer of skin that may be affected by sun damage to leave behind a fresh and smooth layer.

If you’re suffering from acne, a chemical peel may be a valuable part of your treatment program. Lighter peels such as AHAs and glycolic acid peels are more appropriate for sensitive and acne-prone skin, and can help clear up inflammation and even acne scars after a few months of treatment.

The change of seasons, poor diet, or even a lack of rest can leave you with a dull and ruddy complexion. Powerful chemical peels made with phenol acid are used to treat deep wrinkles, and can turn your skin lighter as a side effect.

Most peels require just one or two treatments before the cells begin to turnover; you’ll start to see effects in just a few days with little recovery time required.

Revealing a fresh layer of skin means you’ll have a smooth and youthful appearance and improved skin texture.

Age spots can be difficult to hide under makeup, but chemical peels can help reduce pigmentation and even out your skin tone.

The process of applying the chemical peel solution and letting it set rarely takes longer than 15-20 minutes. You can be in and out of the doctor’s office within an hour.

Glycolic acid peels in particular will help with collagen production; collagen is a building block of skin tissue that creates a strong and supple skin surface.

Removing dead skin cells regularly will freshen up the skin and leave it silky smooth; chemical peels help remove dead skin cells and will even out the skin tone to leave you with a fresh and youthful glow.

Botolinum Toxin

BOTOX (botulinum toxin) in Mumbai is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines (worry lines), horizontal creases on the forehead, bunny lines around the nose, crow’s feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck.

Botox is used primarily for eliminating wrinkles. It is a simple painless office or day-care procedure and takes 10- 12 minutes to perform.

Dr. Viral Desai is an advanced BOTOX user and trainer in Mumbai. The protein blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. Studies have also suggested that Botox is effective in relieving migraine headaches, excessive sweating and muscle spasms in the neck and eyes.

BOTOX is also designed to help eliminate platysma neck bands (turkey globular neck), eliminate severity of vertical and horizontal neck lines, treat poppy chin and mental crease on the chin, to lift the angle of the mouth, eliminate lip lines, for jaw shaping and facial contouring, for eyebrow lifting (flared eyebrow), to increase eye aperture, lift tip of nose, flared nostrils, cheek lift, etc. BOTOX is also used to reduce sweating (axillary, palmar, sole, facial).

Thread Lift

A thread lift is a minimally invasive cosmetic enhancement technique that lifts sagging skin on the face and neck using surgical suture threads. A thread lift is generally treated as a “lunchtime” or “weekend” procedure. It usually is performed in about one hour.

A thread lift is not a substitute for a facelift; it provides modest and subtle changes rather than dramatic results. It also helps people buy time before a face and neck lift may be needed. The biggest advantage of a thread lift is the absence of visible scars and the very short downtime from routine activities. It is common to combine a thread lift with other non-invasive procedures such as anti-wrinkle injections, laser treatments and facial peels that help improve skin texture. Liposuction can be performed at the same time, to improve the contours of the face. Thread lifts cost less and require less downtime for many people

In a thread lift, barbed sutures (threads) are used to lift sagging eyebrows and eyelids, deep naso-labial folds (those furrows between your nose and the corners of your mouth) or aging neck tissues. A thin needle is used to insert the sutures under the facial tissues. The barbs on one end of the thread grab and lift the sagging skin, and the teeth on the other end anchor the skin to the underlying facial tissues. No incisions or stitches are required, and no scars are produced. Additionally, barbed sutures can be used as an adjunct to a more traditional facelift.

1. Ideal candidates for thread lifts include people with minimal signs of ageing who need just a small to moderate lift.
2. Most people who undergo thread lifts are aged between 35 and 45 years. They choose a thread lift because they have begun to see more prominence of the jaw, a relaxed (or minimally sagging) mid-facial appearance or slight bags under the eyes or on the neck.
3. Older people may undergo a thread lift during a more aggressive face lift procedure to provide additional support for the soft tissue area that was elevated in the facelift.
4. Other thread lift candidates include those who have had some relapse from a previous plastic surgery procedure such as a facelift or neck lift.
5. Many physicians combine thread lifts with other procedures, such as chin lifts, neck lifts and brow lifts, for a customized approach to facial rejuvenation.

During the procedure, Dr. Viral will make small incisions in key locations and insert a threaded needle to lift the subcutaneous tissue and suspend the lift with the thread. The barbs on these threads will lock in place and encourage collagen formation upon insertion to lift very specific areas.

Several variations of the technique exist. In general, the “closed” technique involves molding the soft tissue over the suture in multiple location points until it catches in the appropriate location to provide the best result. During an “open” technique, Dr. Desai will use instruments under the skin to create a raw surface so that when the sutures are pulled up, the lift is more likely to remain in the appropriate position.
Dr. Viral has developed a combination technique that uses sutures at multiple tissue levels to catch all the barbs and create a suspension that cannot be accomplished with a non-barbed suture. Depending on your needs, the number of threads used can range from two to 20.

Thread lifts are often performed in an outpatient medical surgery center or hospital. Because the procedure is minimally invasive, general anesthesia is not required, so you can remain awake. One benefit is that Dr. Viral can give you a mirror as the thread is pulled back, allowing you to give feedback. Usually an oral anti-anxiety medication valium, along with local anesthesia, is all that is required. Most people tolerate this well and avoid any “post-anesthesia hangover.”

The most common risks include an allergic reaction to the anaesthetic, hematoma, seroma, infection, palpability of the APTOS threads resulting in a tell-tale line. Sometimes, the end of a thread may poke through the skin. All these are extremely rare and reversible.

If you’re like most patients, you’ll be very satisfied with the results of your thread lift treatment. You may be surprised at the pleasing results that can be gained from this procedure.

Injectible Fillers

Dr. Viral Desai is an advanced filler user and trainer. He is the pioneer of the use of fillers for peri-orbital rejuvenation (for sunken eyes, etc.) and chin augmentation.

Your skin consists of two layers – the epidermis and the dermis. The epidermis, or outer layer of the skin, acts as the skin’s primary defence against the environment. The dermis, or innermost layer of the skin, is composed primarily of connective tissue and provides the skin with a support network. Most facial wrinkles and deeper naso-labial folds occur within the dermal layer of the skin.

Dr. Viral uses US FDA-approved fillers to smooth away wrinkles around the mouth and nose for smooth and natural-looking results that last up to a year. Everyone’s skin ages differently and fillers may be used to rejuvenate multiple problem areas. From smile lines to vertical lip lines, you can smooth away unwanted wrinkles and restore natural contours.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a naturally occurring molecule. Much like a sponge, its primary function is to bind and absorb water, which creates volume in the face. In this way, HA can be thought of as the body’s internal moisturizer. But, as we age, HA diminishes, which contributes to the presence of lines and folds. Also, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. The lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds – like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth. Further, as you age, your face begins to show the effects of gravity, sun exposure, and years of facial muscle movement, such as smiling, chewing and squinting. The underlying tissues that keep your skin looking youthful and plumped up begin to break down, often leaving laugh lines, smile lines, crow’s feet or facial creases over the areas where this muscle movement occurs.

Soft-tissue fillers – most commonly injectable hyaluronic acid, collagen or fat – can help fill in these lines and creases, temporarily restoring a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. When injected beneath the skin, these fillers plump up creased and sunken areas of the face. They can also add fullness to the lips and cheeks. They are also used for peri-orbital rejuvenation, cheek and chin augmentation, nose shaping, correction of crooked nose and depressed nose, scar treatment, acne scar reduction, etc. Injectable fillers may be used alone or in conjunction with a resurfacing procedure, such as a laser treatment, or a re-contouring procedure, such as a facelift.

A person seeking a more youthful appearance has two alternatives – fillers and cosmetic surgery.

1. HA is a naturally occurring protein that provides support to various parts of the human body: the skin, the joints, the bones and the ligaments. Injectable hyaluronic acid is produced in various thicknesses to meet individual patient needs and is approved by the US FDA. Alternative to HA is autologous fat – usually taken from the thighs or abdomen. The benefit of using autologous fat is that it is cheaper than HA and there is practically no risk of allergic reactions. However, autologous fat is fairly unpredictable in terms of survival – a typical treatment with autologous fat lasts for around six months to about three to five years.Injected HA and fat are primarily used to improve the appearance of the skin’s texture. They can help fill out deep facial wrinkles, creases and furrows, “sunken” cheeks, skin depressions and some types of scars. They can also be used to add a fuller, more sensuous look to the lips. They are also used for cheek and chin augmentation, depressed and crooked nose correction.

2. Deep folds in the face or brow caused by overactive muscles or by loose skin may be more effectively treated with cosmetic surgery, such as a facelift or browlift. Injectables are sometimes used in conjunction with facial surgery procedures; however, injectables alone cannot change facial contour the way surgery can. An experienced and qualified plastic surgeon is the only specialist that can offer you the full gamut of the most advanced treatments ranging from cosmetic surgery, refinishing techniques, laser therapy, injectables and the use of other fillers. You and Dr. Viral may determine that a single procedure or a combination of procedures is the best choice for you.

During the procedure, the compound is injected using a fine needle at several points along the edge of the treatment site. If a local anaesthesia has not been used, you may feel minor stinging or burning as the injections are administered. Immediately following treatment, you may notice some minor discomfort, stinging or throbbing in the injected area. Occasionally some bruising or swelling will occur, but it is usually minor. Any redness that appears in the injected site usually disappears within 24 hours. No bandaging is needed and you are free to eat, drink, and wear makeup with sunblock protection shortly thereafter. There may be some temporary swelling and redness in the treated area which should dissipate within a 2-5 days

The duration of results from fillers is variable. Longevity depends on the patient’s lifestyle and physical characteristics as well as the part of the body treated. In general, the injected material is likely to disappear faster in areas that are more affected by muscle movement.
Generally, temporary fillers last for six months to two years, while semi-permanent fillers last for two to five years.

The fillers that we use are risk free and have no allergic reactions. Rarely lumpiness may occur, which can be removed. If you don’t take care then rarely we may get migration of the filler.

If you’re like most patients, you’ll be very satisfied with the results of your injectable treatments. You may be surprised at the pleasing results that can be gained from this procedure.

If Dr. Desai believes a mole needs to be evaluated further or removed entirely, he will either remove the entire mole, or first take just a small tissue sample of the mole to examine thin sections of the tissue under a microscope (a biopsy). This is a simple procedure. It is done with lasers so as to leave virtually no scars.

There are several skin lesions that are very common and benign (non-cancerous). These conditions include moles, freckles, skin tags, benign lentigines, and seborrheic keratoses.

Moles are growths on the skin that are usually brown or black. Moles can appear anywhere on the skin, alone or in groups. Most moles appear in early childhood and during the first 30 years of a person’s life. It is normal to have between 10-40 moles by adulthood. As the years pass, moles usually change slowly, becoming raised and/or changing color. Often, hairs develop on the mole. Some moles may not change at all, while others may slowly disappear over time.

Dr. Desai will remove a skin tag by cutting it off with lasers to leave no scars.

A skin tag is a small flap of tissue that hangs off the skin by a connecting stalk. Skin tags are not dangerous. They are usually found on the neck, chest, back, armpits, under the breasts, or in the groin area.Skin tags appear most often in women, especially with weight gain, and in elderly people.Skin tags usually don’t cause any pain. However, they can become irritated if anything, such as clothing or jewellery, rubs them.

Chin surgery, also known as mentoplasty, is a surgical procedure to reshape the chin either by enhancement with an implant or reduction surgery on the bone. Many times a plastic surgeon may recommend chin surgery to a patient having nose surgery in order to achieve facial proportion, as the size of the chin may magnify or minimize the perceived size of the nose.

Chin surgery helps provide a harmonious balance to your facial features so that you feel better about the way you look. Chin augmentation is often combined with liposuction to remove fat from under the chin and the neck.

Insertion of a chin implant may take anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours. During the procedure, Dr. Viral will place an implant of suitable size and shape over the front of the jawbone. Implants may include solid silicone, bone or fat from the patient’s body. The small incision to create the pocket and insert the implant is placed inside the mouth (along the lower lip) or in the skin just under the chin area. Some chin implants are inserted through the inside lower lip (intro-oral incision) to avoid facial scarring.

Lip Surgery

Lip surgery cosmetically improves the fullness of lips, by one of three techniques: injections, grafting or local flaps.

Lip augmentation can also reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth. This procedure is oftentimes combined with facial implants, Botox, chemical peels, and facial laser resurfacing.

Typically for this procedure, collagen, and the patient’s own fat are often used with newer injectables such as Juvederm, Esthelis, and Restylane. Among the variety of techniques used for lip augmentation are laser lip rejuvenation – a non-invasive procedure that tightens the natural collagen and elastic tissue beneath the lips and V-Y lip augmentation – which requires incisions inside the lips. Lip surgery usually lasts for 15 minutes to 1 hour. The patient can resume normal activities usually within a day; however, graft recipients typically require 1 to 2 weeks

Allergic reactions can range from prolonged redness, swelling, itching, or hardness at the injection site. Possible complications include bleeding, uneven upper and lower lips, and an implant shifting or erupting through the skin. Graft procedures may also leave some lips feeling unnaturally stiff for 2 to 3 months. WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER SURGERY Depending on the material used, the lasting effects of lip surgery can range from buy cialis without rx weeks and months to permanent condition. Restylane may last 9 to 12 weeks while certain fillers last up to 6 years.

S Lift

Short Scar Face-lift is the rejuvenation of the lower face from the temples to the lower neck utilising a short scar from the top of the ear in front to half the vertical length of the skin behind the ear.

The main difference is the length of the scar. The scar does not extend into the scalp above the ear, avoiding the risk of hair loss or bald areas in this part of the scalp. In addition, in the region behind the ear, the scar stops in the crease. It does not cross the hairless skin behind the ear which often leads to a thickened scar and it does not extend into the scalp behind the ear with a risk of hair loss and the possibility of altering or raising the hair-line. The recovery is faster with less bruising. Because there is less elevation of the skin there is less “dead-space” and less risk of fluid or blood collecting under the skin which delays healing.

The facial and neck skin is elevated. Fat is suctioned from the jowls and under the chin only if necessary. If there are muscle bands (platysmal bands) under the chin, they are brought together with stitches through an incision in the crease under the chin. The Superficial Musculo-Aponeurotic System (SMAS) – a layer of tissue connected to the muscles in the face- is tightened. The cheek fat is re-elevated to a youthful level thus recreating the cheek highlights. Incisions are placed inside and behind the ear so that the patient can wear the hair up. The sideburn is left in its youthful buy celecoxib no prescription position. The incisions go in the creases and are not visible at all.

From 30 years old and up. This lift is generally more appropriate for the younger facelift patient in her 40s to 50s, but can be applied to suitable patients in their 60s.

Face-lifting techniques are constantly moving in the direction of being less traumatic and a quicker recovery. This is not a weekend facelift. Week-end facelifts last for a weekend! Nor is the short scar facelift any less expensive than a standard lift. However it can be thought of as the executive facelift for those on the run and with limited time to take out of their hectic business or social schedule. Surgical time and recovery: Surgery takes about 2-3 hours. Stitches are out after 9 days. The patient can go back to work at 7-10 days. The most frequent related procedures are blepharoplasty and brow-lift. Blepharoplasty is usually performed in the lower lid through a trans-conjunctival or internal incision. Fat is removed sparingly from the upper and lower lid. Brow lifting is done with an endoscopic approach using three small incisions to visualize the corrugator muscles which cause the frown lines. The muscles are partially removed. The brow is released and then elevated and is then fixed in an elevated position using Endotine implants.

Facial Rejuvenation, also known as “rhytidectomy” or “meloplasty” is the surgery performed to tighten the skin on the face and neck and the removal of fat from the facial area and underneath the chin.

You may be a good candidate for facelift if you observe any one or more of the following:

1. A deep line or fold, running from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth

2. Jowls or loss of a well-defined jaw line associated with youthfulness

3. Deep wrinkles in the cheeks and sagging of the “highlight” areas of the cheekbones

Loose skin, wrinkles, vertical “cords” or excess fatty tissue in the neck

Facial Rejuvenation is performed regularly by Dr. Viral Desai. It is a relatively  safe procedure, however, it is important to understand that there are certain risks, complications and side effects, before deciding to go ahead with surgery. Dr. Viral Desai will discuss these points in detail with you. They include:
1. Wound infection requiring antibiotics.
2. Pain and discomfort due to swelling of the face.
3. Haematoma which may require readmission and surgery to remove it.
4. Nausea, relating to the length of general anaesthetic.
5. If you colour your hair, this should be done prior to surgery
6. As you are under anaesthesia longer than most other cosmetic procedures, you should be as healthy as possible, thus making your post-operative recuperation easier.

Chances are excellent that you’ll be happy with your facelift, especially if you appreciate that results may not be immediately apparent. Even after the swelling and bruises are gone, the hair around your temples may be thin and your skin may feel dry and rough for several months. Men may find they have to shave in new places, behind the neck and ears, where areas of beard- growing skin have been repositioned. You’ll have some scars from your facelift, but they’re usually hidden by your hair or in the natural creases of your face and ears. In any case, they’ll fade within time and should be scarcely visible.

Having a facelift doesn’t stop the clock. Your face will continue to age with time, and you may want to repeat the procedure one or more times-perhaps five or ten years down the line. But in another sense, the effects of even one facelift are lasting; years later, you’ll continue to look better than if you’d never had a facelift at all.

Ear surgery, also known as “otoplasty” is surgery to correct prominent ears, across a broad range of ages, in both males and females. The surgery pins the ears back closer to the head thus making them less prominent. This procedure is very common in children at the age of 5-6. Prominent ears can be very embarrassing for young children, and quite often causes them a great deal of distress, from the criticism of schoolmates and their peers. To avoid such torment or any psychological damage this surgery is performed at a relatively young age. Teenagers and adults often decide to have this surgery later in life, as often the opportunity was unavailable to them when younger.

You may be a good candidate for ear surgery if you have one or more of the following conditions:

1. If your ears are prominent and stick out

2. If you feel you are unable to wear your hair tied back due to protruding ears

3. If you suffer criticism due to your ears sticking out

4. If you have one ear that sticks out or if you have one ear bigger than the other

When having otoplasty surgery, a fold is created at the central point of the ear enabling Dr. Viral to reshape the cartilage. Dr. Viral buy ativan cheap will then remove the skin and either fold or remove a portion of the cartilage, allowing the ear to bend naturally towards the head. The procedure will take approximately 60 minutes. You can expect to be at the hospital for 2-4 hours.

You will be given either a general or local anaesthetic; it is important to inform either Dr. Viral Desai or the anaesthetist of any previous reactions to anaesthetics, or if you are anxious or suffer from a nervous disorder. Anaesthetists working with Dr. Viral have had extensive experience working with children and are very familiar with all facets of plastic surgery.

The decision for a child to return to school will depend on the parents and the child. Everyone heals at a different rate and some children will need to stay home longer than others. The average time spent away from work or school is approximately 7 days. It is important to avoid physical activity/exercise for at least three weeks post surgery.

Surgery of the nose (Rhinoplasty) is very popular in men and women of all ages. This procedure is performed to correct the shape of the nose. External nasal deformities can cause great emotional distress is just the answer. Nose is the most prominent feature in the face and an ugly deformed nose can be an extremely troublesome and worrying factor for anyone. To get the nose in a good shape is very important in regards to facial aesthetics and beauty. The reshaping of the nose cannot be standardized; it has to be customized as per one’s face structure; whether long, round, square or oval.

In the rhinoplasty procedure, the cuts are taken in a hidden manner as a result there are no visible scars.

There are various areas of the nose that can be changed – such as the nostrils, the tip of the nose or the bony structure. Rhinoplasty can recontour the nasal profile, change the angle between the nose and upper lip and reshape the nasal tip.

The result of Rhinoplasty is a natural-looking nose that “fits” with the rest of the face. The results of Rhinoplasty enhance the balance between the nose and other facial features.

Some of the indications that you may be a good candidate for nose surgery are:
1. Your nose appears too large for your face.
2. There is a bump on the nasal bridge when viewed in profile.
3. Your nose seems too wide when viewed from the front.
4. The nasal tip droops or plunges.
5. The tip is thickened or enlarged.
6. Your nostrils are excessively flared.
7. Your nose is off-centre or crooked.
8. Previous injury has made your nose asymmetrical.
Nose reshaping surgery should only be performed when the nose is fully grown, usually at the age of fifteen.

Dr. Viral Desai can perform various types of alterations to your nose – changes can be made to the septal bone if it is crooked. This is performed by re-breaking the nasal bone and straightening it, allowing the patient to breathe easier. Some patients have a hump on the bridge of their nose, which can be chiseled down, making it less visible. The nasal cartilage can be altered to allow a thinner bridge and narrower appearance. If the nose is bent it can be straightened and changes can also be made to lift a drooping tip. Implants or cartilage can also be inserted to build up areas to produce a better looking nasal structure. You will be given a general or local anaesthetic and sedation (depending on your type of surgery). It is important to inform Dr. Viral Desai prior to surgery of any previous complications/reactions to anaesthetics or of any anxiety or nervous conditions

You will have a nasal pack inserted into your nose, which is removed 24 hours after your procedure. You may also have a splint applied to the nasal bridge or sutures, which are removed 7 days post-surgery.

Wear comfortable clothing (i.e. a tracksuit or a top that is buttoned or zipped at the front rather than a top that you have to pull over your head) on the day of your surgery.

Cosmetic eyelid surgery, also called “Blepharoplasty,” removes the excess fat and wrinkled, drooping skin of the upper eyelids that can make you look constantly tired or sad. It also eliminates bags under the eyes and tightens the lower eyelid skin. The result is a brighter, more alert and rested appearance. AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR EYELID SURGERY? Any one or combination of the following conditions may indicate that you are a good candidate for eyelid surgery: 1. Excess skin obscuring the natural fold of the upper eyelids 2. Loose skin hanging down from the upper eyelids, perhaps impairing vision 3. A puffy appearance to the upper eyelids, making the eyes look tired 4. Excess skin and fine, crepey wrinkles of the lower eyelids 5. Bags and dark circles under the eyes, often with a depression along the bony border of the lower eyelids 6. Droopiness of the lower eyelids, showing white below the iris (coloured portion of the eye)

Any one or combination of the following conditions may indicate that you are a good candidate for eyelid surgery:

1. Excess skin obscuring the natural fold of the upper eyelids

2. Loose skin hanging down from the upper eyelids, perhaps impairing vision

3. A puffy appearance to the upper eyelids, making the eyes look tired

4. Excess skin and fine, crepey wrinkles of the lower eyelids

5. Bags and dark circles under the eyes, often with a depression along the bony border of the lower eyelids

6. Droopiness of the lower eyelids, showing white below the iris (colored portion of the eye)

When upper blepharoplasty is performed an incision is placed along the crease or fold of the upper eyelid and finely sutured. Excess skin or fat is removed from this incision. As the incision is made in the crease of the eyelid, it is barely visible and easily camouflaged with makeup. Upper blepharoplasty is performed under local anesthetic and sometimes with sedation as a day surgery patient. This procedure is not painful and takes approximately 45 minutes. By doing a simple procedure like this, we can expect to reverse the age by around 7-9 years.

Lower blepharoplasty can be performed with an incision inside the eyelid or externally, just beneath the eyelashes. If suturing is required, dissolving sutures are used. Excess fatty tissue is removed from the lower eyelid giving the patient a less tired look and reducing puffiness. It is often common to have a laser performed on the lower eyelid to decrease lines around and underneath the eyes. A Lower Blepharoplasty takes approximately 60 minutes and both procedures combined usually take up to 90 minutes. It is a daycare procedure and done under local anesthesia and it will reverse the age by 7-9 years.

Complications from eyelid surgery are uncommon; however, it is important to be informed of possible side effects before you proceed with surgery. Dr. Viral Desai will explain them to you in detail. They are as follows:
1. Bruising which subsides after a two-week period
2. Eye irritation which can be improved by eye drops
3. Haematoma which is a collection of blood under the skin which requires removal
4. Infection requiring medication

Risks and complications can be avoided and it is recommended that you follow the pre and postoperative steps as advised by Dr. Viral Desai.

Forehead lift

Forehead lift (also known as brow lift) surgery is performed to give both men and women a younger, softer looking appearance. It decreases the frown lines that many people have on the forehead caused by tiredness, genetics or stress.

A forehead lift is often performed in combination with facial rejuvenation and you should speak to Dr. Viral Desai about all options available to you. Men and women of all ages can choose to have this kind of surgery.

Any one or combination of the following conditions may indicate that you are a good candidate for a forehead lift:

1. Sagging or low position of the eyebrows, creating a tired or sad appearance
2. Deep horizontal creases across the forehead
3. Frown lines, or furrows, between the eyebrows and sometimes across the top of the nose

Remember, with any facial surgery, you may feel and look better in a short period of time.

However, it may not be advisable to participate in certain activities, especially activities that may result in the face being jarred or bumped, for several weeks.

Endoscopic Plastic Surgery

Endoscopy is a surgical technique that involves the use of an endoscope, a special viewing instrument that allows a surgeon to see images of the body’s internal structures through very small incisions.

Of all the cosmetic procedures that use endoscopy, the forehead lift is the one which plastic surgeons more commonly perform. Instead of the usual ear-to-ear incision, three or more “puncture-type” incisions are made just at the hairline. The endoscope helps guide the surgeon, who removes the muscles that produce frown lines and repositions the eyebrows at a higher level.

All surgery carries risks and every incision leaves a scar. However, with endoscopic surgery, your scars are likely to be hidden and much smaller and some of the after-effects of surgery may be minimized. In a typical endoscopic procedure, only a few small incisions, each less than one inch long, are needed to insert the endoscope probe and other instruments. The tiny “eye” of the endoscope’s camera allows a surgeon to view the surgical site almost clearly as if the skin were opened from a long incision. Because the incisions are shorter with endoscopy, the risk of sensory loss from nerve damage is decreased. Also, bleeding, bruising, and swelling may be significantly reduced with the endoscopic.

Endoscopic surgery may also allow you to avoid an overnight hospital stay. Many endoscopic procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia with sedation. Be sure to discuss this possibility with your doctor. In endoscopic surgery, a probe with a tiny camera transmits images inside the body to a video monitor.

Special Consideration And Risks

It is important to remember that the endoscopic approach has only recently been applied to plastic surgery procedures. There are some known risks, which vary in severity depending on the procedure being performed. These include infection, fluid accumulation beneath the skin (which must be drained), blood vessel damage, nerve damage or loss of feeling, internal perforation injury, and skin injury. Patients who tend to be the best candidates for cosmetic endoscopic procedures are those who don’t have large amounts of loose hanging skin.

Facial plastic surgery can significantly reduce the signs of premature ageing, balance facial features and create a fresher, natural, more youthful appearance.

A person’s appearance can impact on their sense of self-worth. Over time, diet, lifestyle and exposure to sunlight can all take their toll, with the most visible signs generally seen in the face. And, if there’s something you don’t like about the way you look, it can make you feel insecure and self-conscious. Similarly, facial scarring and disfigurement can also decrease your confidence

Brow Lift

Also known as a forehead lift, brow lift surgery reduces the appearance of furrows and frown lines on the forehead and lessens hooding over the eyes, leaving the patient with a more youthful, rested and refreshed look.

Eyelid Surgery

This surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, removes excess fat and extra skin from the upper and lower eyelids, reducing the appearance of saggy eyelids and bags beneath the eyes, resulting in younger-looking eyes.

Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a nose job, can improve the shape and appearance of the nose by lowering bumps on the bridge, straightening a crooked nose, altering the shape and angle of the nose tip or narrowing the nostrils.

Cheek Implants

Cheek augmentation can be used to correct deficient cheek development or provide a more attractive definition to the face by creating the appearance of larger, fuller or higher cheekbones.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels vary in strength and can be used to reduce wrinkling, superficial blemishes and pigment problems. A chemical peel will also tighten the skin and stimulate the production of new skin cells, resulting in improved complexion and a more youthful appearance.

Chin Implants

Chin augmentation can help to strengthen the jaw line, creating a stronger profile and more balanced features. It can benefit people with a receding chin or poor definition of the neck.

Lip Surgery

Lip surgery cosmetically improves the fullness of lips, by one of three techniques: injections, grafting or local flaps. Lip augmentation can also reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth.

Otoplasty, also known as ear surgery or ear pinning, can benefit young children and adults who suffer from overly large or protruding ears. It creates a more natural and balanced look which can also help to renew self-confidence.

Mole Removal

You may want a mole removed because you find it unattractive or it protrudes and is irritated by activities such as shaving. Mole removal can be quick and easy, and can leave you blemish-free.

Short Scar Face Lift

A face lift is can help to turn back the effects of time and rejuvenate your looks. The main differences between this procedure and a standard face lift are that it requires no staples, the scar is shorter and the recovery time faster.

Laser Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing can be used on the entire face, or on specific areas, to reduce the signs of wrinkles and blemishes, leaving the skin looking more youthful and radiant.

Face Lift

A face lift tightens muscles in the face and neck and rejuvenates facial features such as the cheeks and lips, leaving you with a long-lasting, natural and youthful looking appearance.

Scar Revision

Scars can be unsightly or embarrassing but with dermabrasion or surgical scar revision their appearance can be made less obvious, or they can be concealed by repositioning them in less obvious places such as the hairline or a fold of skin.
